one of my bands new songs

in the past year Peter And The Wolf have gotten their name around in many reviews including MTV and Pitchfork Media. This particular song of theirs really impressed me, stylistically and lyrically. I believe it shows the beautiful cryptic potential that the band posses and showcases Red Hunter as a lyricist and songwriter. Red is said to have written the song during one of his many late nights / early mornings as an insomniac, while listening to AM radio and hearing a piece they were doing "about the huge temporary cities that FEMA was prepared to build in the event of a terrorist attack on LA. The cities would basically appear overnight in the deserts east of Los Angeles and would be able to shelter a mere 5% of the city’s population with “a million tents and trailers.”' which is where the song begins.

it's quite a beautiful song that really gets you thinking about things. hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

love, eric.

this is definitely a new favorite band of mine. this song in-particularly has managed to shock and amaze me. it starts off slow and seemingly lost, wondering from note to cliffhanging note, and gradually drifts along, floating freely down stream, catching itself among a few little whirl pools and struggling to stay afloat, before finally it's heart seems to jump to it's throat as it goes charging full steam down a full fledged waterfall of noise and sound eruption. the track screams and screeches until it seems to fall into a brief metal breakdown and come to a sudden heart pounding halt at the finish.

some really ambitious stuff, i know it's quite long, but i really must say i'd rank it above any tune on this web page. LISTEN TO IT!

this is a beautiful song by a very talented band that has yet to really be noticed amungst the ambiant/instrumental crowd. they create beautifuly resonating soundscapes of color and sound, depicting their emotions in soundwaves.

if you liked the Do Make Say Think recoring, you should check this out as well.

[PLAY]
460>_621604

i AM blessing you with this recording, no doubt about that. an incredible band with some incredible musicians, Do Make Say Think is one of the best instrumental prog/post-rock bands around, and this is a beautiful sounding live recording from the beginning of their show at the Empty Bottle with Plants and Animals. check these guys out if you haven't already, it's worth it.

you're welcome.

[PLAY]
460>_621605

Yeah, i haven't been on this thing in quite a while as you might have noticed, now i'm try'in to make up for it by throwing on a bunch of neato things i've been listening to lately. these prog rockers arnt around anymore... or are they? they are not at all associated with mr.bungle, except maybe in influence. well you can find more downloads on their site. they're from germany, good luck and happy listening.

cool indie tune. pretty solid stuff.

and that's all i have to say about that.

[PLAY]
460>_621609

really listen here. probably the heaviest stuff i've ever heard in my life... ok, it is the heaviest stuff i've ever heard in my life. this guy is absolutely incredible, maybe one of the last really good things left in hip-hop, and probably the genres last chance at being what it was meant to be in the beginning. i've never heard such raw and pure honesty in all of my life.

so, if you're ready for it, this could finally be the stuff you could finally say changed your life. but, like the hardest and purest of coffees, (sorry to make possibly one of the most stereo-typically indie comparisons possible) Saul isn't for everyone, but i still recommend it to the world.

definitely one of my idols, Bob Dylan made music that he loved despite what his audience thought of it. he never let anyone or anything stop him from getting where he wanted to go and playing what he wanted to play, and throughout it all, he never let the fame or the media change him. one amazing guy.

now i'm gonna pull a bit of a Dylan by putting this song on here. not one of his most famous songs, in fact many have only heard the Jeff Buckly version, which i do believe is quite sad because it is very high on my list of favorite Dylan songs. it's so pure and beautifully soulful, how can you help but love it?

singer/ song writer Ramon Alarcon, is the master mind behind Ramona Cordova, the solo project he created when his other band, Denver In Dallas (quite good stuff), decided to go on a break for a while. the music divulged from Ramons guitar and vocal combination sound somewhat like a sweet and whimsical dream. the tale it actually weaves in his first cd, "The Boy Who Floated Freely", is about a young lad named Giver who washes up upon a shore and meets a band of gypsies and a beautiful girl that he comes to love, but somehow things go astray. you can find the rest of the story here,

very cool fellow with some very beautiful words. i really recommend you give it a listen.

this 5 member "orchestral esque" group plays beautiful to chaotic songs of angst and wonder. though the line up seems to switch around on occasion, you can always expect an astonishing live show from them, with the same great vocals and percise rythems. they are a truely unique band that really knows what they're doing. im predicting they'll only get better.

[PLAY]
460>_621613

with tastes of political rock founders like MC5 or Fugazi, they're a pretty heady and heavy group at times, with a real kick ass, "im not afraid to spit in your face", kind of punk attitude. but still they have their quieter, more laid back tracks that sound sort of like the lull in the battle. thats more what this track is, and i find it quite enjoyable. listen to more from these guys, they know how to rock.

[PLAY]
460>_621614

sorry, thats the best i can do for a picture right now, she doesn't seem to like getting her picture taken. but who cares, thats got nothin to do with the music, and the music is really all that is important. and let me tell ya, her music is bangin! a new folk, indie kinda sound with all kinds of little sounds in between. when attending a Queen Ansleis show, you are expected to bring some kind of noise maker, wether it's a tambourine, a pot, or a kazoo, so you can sing and play along. sounds like a party to me.

[PLAY]
460>_621615

like their name, Pilotdrift seems to drift along peacefully through a clear yet whimsical sky, where they create all kinds of beautiful, ambient soundscapes. but don't for one second think they don't know how to take the stormy route through, because with songs like Elephant Island, these boys will bring you to the edge of the world and back.

[PLAY]
460>_621616

psychedelic rock n' rollers that i might compare to rage against the machine, mc5, fugazi maybe, but with more of greatful dead twist at times. these guys really got skills though, and they're turning heads everywhere they go. get used to em cause they're here to stay.

[PLAY]
460>_621617

coming back to the regular indie/ rock/ alternative normaly posted on this site, im thowing these guys on cause this song is quite catchy and, well, i enjoy it. good band too.

LAST DAY OF OFFICIAL ODD-HARDCORE-ISH WEEK!!!

i thought these guys would make a nice finisher for the week cause they are just so friggin cool. all their songs are about stupid things like this. this one is about cutsman from mega man. enjoy.

[PLAY]
460>_621619

another band who's adverage song length is about 45 seconds. they look pretty gay in thoes costumes, but there was a time when they did acctually dress pretty cool, like omar rodriguez cool.

[PLAY]
460>_621620

Doughters, you craaaaaazy.

[PLAY]
460>_621621

some say they must have been dropped on their heads as children, i for one won't necessarily agree with that, but i'm certainly not gonna disagree either. when Black Dice isn't making chaotic tracks like this one they are creating equally "abstract", if you will, sound scapes and untimely rythms. if u honestly do enjoy their juxtapose sound scapes there is a pretty good chance you've been taking acid. i mean, the mars volta guys like em, but thats just helping to prove the point.

[PLAY]
460>_621622

im tempted to be an asshole and call this extreamo. but i wont. these guys do pretty much play screamo to a new level tho, and it is quite exhilarating.

[PLAY]
460>_621623

these UK hipsters are quickly earning a name for themselves as the loud and wild, 80's metal kids of the scene. though they don't quite sound like iron maiden, slayer, or any of their other big name heros, their live shows are just as stong and they're not gonna let you forget em'.

[PLAY]
460>_621624

pretty funny, theres a good chance you'll all hate this and it really isnt indie at all, but im gonna put it up anyway cause this is odd-hardcore-ish week.

happy jammin.

i do believe that part of the problem with our society today is that kids don't think much anymore. i blame it on schools because rather than teaching children of todays world how to think, the majority of learning going on in classrooms is memorization. we are not taught to think for ourselves, but to accept what is told to us as the absolute truth. in reality, the only thing we know is 100% true is that nothing is 100% true. uncertainty is a main aspect of life and the only way we can truly learn anything is by questioning it. this can sometimes be difficult to comprehend and makes things complicated, so ofcourse, it only makes sense that americans are falling behind in intelligence because we are the laziest people on this earth and always look for the easy way out, which is memorization and facts. perhaps this can explain our love for baseball. pure statistics and memorization, while soccer, the main sport everywhere else in the world, is a game of far less restriction and much more creativity and freedom to make alternative choices and create possibilities on your own. back on topic, i think what what we all must do if we have a desire to learn anything in this life is accept that any fact that we know also has the potential to be false, and visa-versa. we must balance these thoughts as we see fit and determine in our own minds what we truly think is certain, while at the same time keeping open the option that we may be wrong. with all this being said, we must remember that nothing is absolutely true, which means that all of this could possibly be completely false, but not with out the possibility of it being right. on. the. money.

460>_621625

real rockin indie-alternative jam. these guys should be way bigger than they are, they have many sweet songs and a nice variety to them. check em out.

Chicago based indie-emo pioneers led by the infamous Tim Kinsella at the time. after breaking up, related bands came to be joan of arc, owls, and the promise ring.

the song starts as strong as an adveradge atdi tune, fades out and comes back stronger than ever. basicly it kicks ass.

[PLAY]
460>_621627

Recorded live and rough like this you might think they were an indie-rock band, but nope, if you've heard their other stuff they're acctually much more pop-punk. but thats why i didnt post their other stuff, this song f*ckin rocks.
Sadly, Alli had their last shows back in may and are no more, quite a bummer for u first listeners.

460>_621628

Great band you deffinately should have atleast hear of by now. Indie rock, alternative and and almost post hardcore, but dont you dare confuse them with any of the other "new" and "hip" bands poping up everywhere, cause they kick fall out boy or hawthore gay ass hieghts' asses any day

rockin indie tune from these crazy canadians. comparable to cap'n jazz, or joan of arc, maybe even owls. pretty much anything from tim kinsellas. since they are off jade tree, why shouldn't they be?just cop a listen and maybe ill throw some cap'n jazz or sumthin up here soon
